Everyone who books for a talk (be that ours or another talk) GETS AN AMAZING GOODY BAG!!!!, and I’m thrilled to announce that we’ll be gifting our 2ml Catch Me If I Fall samples within that bag too.
Tomorrow I’m off to the warehouse to help pack them all up - and that activity alone should give you a flavour of what it’s like to build a beauty business. I’m very much at the start of my entrepreneurial adventures, and I can’t wait to share a behind the scenes of what it’s really like. My doom-scrolling on Instagram is now all about tech/website apps and sales programmes instead of cat/dog memes; I spend my days looking at stock - are we about to run out of boxes?; or aligning software for a more seamless accounting process. The creative “stuff” - the part you sign up for as a founder - the making of new products, what to call them, briefing my amazing designers - is far easier, comes far more naturally to me, but still needs a sharp focus. Then there’s the finances - keeping up the day job while also keeping up the day and night job. I love every bit of it, although I can’t wait to get to the stage where I can breathe again.
I am really looking forward to hearing what Jamie Genevieve has to say as her story is incredible - Jamie started out working on the makeup counter at Debenhams in Glasgow, blogging a few tips here and there, building an audience via social media that encompasses 1.3m followers on Instagram and her makeup business is now worth millions. A lot of hard slog, a lot of talent, and some amazing teamwork has paid off, all the while raising a young family. To be sharing a panel with her is truly an honour, and I will be getting my notebook out and hopefully picking up a few tips!
Please join us, we’re in the very capable hands of Nateisha Scott, the beauty editor of Vogue Business. She is a data freak, obsessed with all the latest beauty business trends, and I know she’ll extract the details and the dirt from us both on the day.
Really hope you can make it!
